Kathleen’s tree
Dedicated to the loving and cherished memory of Kathleen Irene Bennett
28th October 1946 – 8th May 2025
Ever since coming to Dunster on a childhood holiday, Kathleen fell in love with the Beach (as so many of us do), and was lucky enough, in later years, to realise the ambition of owning a chalet. This made her a regular at the Beach, and you will no doubt have seen her either in her chalet or on her bright red trike. Kathleen lived in Bristol, so it was easy for her to pop down to the Beach when the mood took her – which was pretty often! How could you not come down to listen to the lapping of the waves, the call of the sea birds, the rustle of the trees and the wildlife in the Hawn? To be close to a slice of heaven, serene, calm and joyful.
Kathleen was unique, a character that can be epitomised by her other delight – her trike. She purchased her red trike in 2023, and riding it around the Beach gave her much joy as it did to so many people who saw her riding sedately through the site. Her fellow chalet owners were quick to request ‘a go’ on the trike. Like her re-capturing memories of childhood.
Kathleen was a quiet, sensitive soul, generous and with a keen sense of humour. She found great comfort in the Beach, and loved her time well spent here, in the company of friends and beloved companions.
This tree is sponsored by Kathleen’s dear friend, Marjy, with whom Kathleen whiled away happy days at the Beach and beyond.
“Love is like a tree, it grows of its own accord, it puts down deep roots into our whole being.” – Victor Hugo
